Sustainability
Cubipod is a sustainable element used in the construction of main armor units for mound breakwaters, in view of the fact that they use less concrete and steel for molds (fewer molds are needed). This means a reduction in the consumption of cement, aggregates and electricity as well as lower transport requirements, all of which amounts to a major saving in the ecological, energy and carbon footprints.
The holes between pieces encourage marine life to use them, and in view of Cubipod’s low overtopping rates, the breakwater crest elevation can be lowered, thereby reducing the visual impact of the structure.
